October & November

New color for the panther. They also went with a green on green block t that reminds me st. patty's day. No pics of that one, though.

Shook Ones/Easel Split 7" Cover. 3 colors, limited to 500. My knuckles were bleeding after this run. The Silver/Metallic Blue are the test press covers #/13.

Winter Ball Posters. 4 colors, limited to 50-some on gray, 4 on orange. Erika drew this one up and it looks real good. Come buy one at the show.

VERA!

So VERA contacted me out of the blue to do a poster for this show. I'm not quite sure how they found me, since both chris ktub and kelly said they didn't give the guy who contacted me my info. anyway, i went to town on this one hoping that I'll get more opportunities to design for VERA. This is original art, 4 colors printed on mr. french blu raspberry stock. Mr. French has all sorts of fun new colors!!! #/29, to be sold for $2 at the show. Come and keep me company (and buy one!). oh, and see the bands i guess.

up next: beestings record covers?!? more shooks ones stuff. robot jones?

More Shooks...

The newest batch of shirts for the lifetime shows and the upcoming tour. I also did some of the block t's, toy machine rip offs, and demo hoodies. The tattoo script was also done red on white. The descendents rip off was done navy on ash, too. Frisbees were limited to 30. The frisbee and tattoo script are my artwork, though they're nothing to be proud of. last minute sort of deals.

distinction ov colors

how often do you get to print XXXXXL shirts? this was fun. for gustav, one of jaclyn's teachers at school. 40-ish shirts, columbia blue and white on navy. not my artwork.

rainfest

rainfest 2007 posters. three color combos on two paper colors. #/6, #/17, #/26 from left to right. these were easy to print, but frustrating in every other way. the big bummer is that after being asked to print posters for this, one of the guys putting this all on had other posters printed. so now i'm stuck with these hoping that i can sell them off on the last day (the only day I'm attending).

4.14.2007

this was a last minute emergency project for jaclyn's school's fashion show. they needed something for the windows, so i threw together four prints on eight pieces of left over mr french. it took 4 hours, i used clipart, and they look like crap. but the greenish-grey looked nice once these were up on the windows. this is the seahorse, but there is also an octopus, an anchor, and a squid. i don't want these so let me know if you would.

shirts

This weekend's project was a reorder of shook ones shirts. I've printed this one once before in a variety of colors. This time: black on black, dark red on yellow, brown on white (new), tiffany blue on brown, and white on ash (new). Everything decided to be troublesome during this project. The pressure washer wasn't giving any pressure, making reclaiming a pain. Then, the white ink was incredibly hard to pull because the shop was cold. Someone failed to label the jade ink as puff, so the first few brown shirts are interesting looking to say the least. The flash unit blew up during the brown shirts as well, flames and smoke and everything. luckily, i only had 8 shirts left and was able to use the residual heat to flash the remaining shirts. i think that was it, though.

and frank decided he wanted to be in a picture.

shook ones test press

Shook Ones "FFF" Test Press. Limited to 15, though I printed 20 of these covers. Six colors on Mr. French Superbright. My sister-in-law Erika did the original artwork on notebook paper. I redrew it and added color. She will be doing a lot of artwork for me in the future, she just doesn't know it yet.

dragline

Dragline 7" covers and cd-r's. Not my artwork, but I did the layout. Limited to 300; they included the cd-r's with the 7". I think the printing came out pretty good. I like the colors, though I wish the gold stood out a bit more. This was my first time printing cd-r's and i'm stoked on them. Pretty easy to print. I used a bit of cover paper to make a mold, then printed with speedball waterbased ink. I got the cd's from discmakers.com; these are the full coverage ink jet. The waterbased ink doesn't scratch off. After the first 20, the cd's stuck to the underside of the screen, so I had to tap them off from the top of the screen. A little annoying, but didn't cause any problems. I would love to do more cd-r's.

archive: record covers

Shook Ones "FFF" East Coast Tour. Black on Mr. French Charcoal with Yellow Glow. The glow on this is faint because it is on dark paper.

Shook Ones "Facetious, Folly, Feat" Record Release. Brown with White Glow. Not my art. Speedball glow inks work great on paper.

Sinking Ships "Disconnecting" Record Release. Black and Gold. Not my art.

archive: posters

Posters from the past few years.

Shook Ones - May 6 06. This was the first poster i printed. 5 colors on mr. french charcoal paper. given out for free at the show. limited to 43 and gone before the first band played.

Headphones - May 26 06. My friend kelly was the music director at WWU. He's the reason i got back into artwork and printing. He's very patient and put up with me being a horrible artist for the first year or so. you'll be seeing kelly's name alot here. my first experiment with a blend. it would have been better if i was smart enough to use a larger screen.

None More Black - June 2 06. This is the first poster I sold. I was really nervous about asking people to pay for my artwork, but I sold all 40 or so pretty easily. I hand-drew this
art.

Go it Alone - July 26 06. This is one of my favorite designs.

Blue Monday - September 2 06. Not my artwork. The dudes from Blue Monday saw my poster for Go It Alone and asked me to print posters for their final show. I didn't do this artwork. Funny story: while i printed these, my wife made an appointment to get a "goodbye, blue monday" tattoo on her foot. a kurt vonnegut reference, not a hardcore reference.

Shook Ones - October 22 06. The latest poster I've printed. Glow in the dark, metallic gold, sold out pretty quickly. See glow below.

an explanation

this blog is to:
1) show off cool things i have made
2) find people who want me to make cool things for them

i screen print in my spare time. since i'm a teacher 40-60 hours a week, i don't have much spare time. but do i have weekends, various breaks and holidays, and the summer. i can print on anything that is mostly flat. i can do artwork for you too, though i don't consider it my strong point. i'll leave that up to you.

so if you want something done, no matter how small (or large) or simple (or complicated) send me a message.
